Mischief Monday - The Mouse Is Winning

Back a few months ago, I may have mentioned we figured out there was a mouse in our house. He had eaten a hose from the dishwasher and caused havoc! The Man and I can live without a lot of things, but   the lack of a dishwasher is stress increaser.  We both HATE dishes.

To eliminate the mouse, the Man had bought some traditional traps. Smart mouse was able to get the food off it without setting them off.

Time passed and the signs of the mouse disappeared so we stopped trying. Then Saturday morning we spied mouse poop on the counter. We figure he is upstairs since we removed his downstairs food source (Nin's food).  Time for round 2.

Man bought an expensive humane trap and set it. Saturday night, it was clear the mouse had visited, but he didn't set it off. Last night, well the Man can't tell if the mouse was there or not.

We will try this humane trap for a few more nights, but may have to consider a glue trap.

Let's hope we win this battle soon!

PS We haven't seen Mischief Mickey around for several weeks. We have seen Mrs. Fox and our neighbour says she has 2 babies, so it is possible Mickey has become part of the circle of life.

  1. maybe Lee and Phod would like to do the dishes? or you can hire me, I'm an eggs-pert. We got Fievel the mouse-expat after we placed a little piece of bacon in the trap what we roasted a little with a lighter. Sadly Easy's dad wasn't the brightest light of the birthday cake and set the mouse free next to our house... 5 minutes later Fievel was back... ugggh! and he sadly ended as a floater in a water bucket (probably suicide)

  5. mom uses some weird little black box that is humane, occasionally we have one show up at our house also, its cos dad keeps corn on the porch for his squirrels that he loves more than us, well that is our theory....mom likes to do dishes she says it is her stress reliever......stella rose

  17. We does get the ocasional mouse in our house, but they don't survive very long, but in the fall, they move into our garage and wes has a terrible time getting rid of them. Wes uses glue traps and they is kept where us animals can't gets near them. Mommy stepped on one - once. She ended up throwing her runners away cuz pulling it off, pulled of the sole of the shoe!

  18. We use tipping traps for capture and relocation. They work really well!

We also have a dog who hunts mice - R. We always know when we have a mouse in the house based on his behavior!

  19. We have mice in our basement during the cold months but they are rarely inside during the warmer months. We set the traditional spring traps and last year we caught about 16 of them. They have only come to the first floor twice in our 25 years here and both times we have been able to catch them.

  21. Have you tried putting peanut butter in the trap? Mom hates them and she she calls them all rats and she knows the difference but they are all rats to her. When she finds one in the trap or one Shit has played to death with, she lays a paper towel over it and tells dad to take care of it.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  22. Okays, tell your peeps they have to use peanut butter. lots of it! slather it on and UNDER the little plate on the spring trap. They cannot resist it, and gets them everytime! Ma uses it outside when the backyard becomes The Great Rat Highway. Let me know...
Oh, and if that doesn't work...I'll be right overs! Nothin' like a terrier to catch those mice! ☺
(yeah, Ma doesn't let me catch the rats, cause she doesn't like the 'carnage'...whatevers.)
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥
